Ukhand to set up river & spring rejuvenation boards

The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced setting of the river and spring rejuvenation boards in the State. He also declared that 50 kilometre long cycling tracks will be constructed in Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts. The CM made these announcements in a programme organised on the occasion of the World Environment Day at his residence on Monday. A plantation drive was also organised on the occasion.

Dhamisaid that cycling tracks would be prepared in all the districts of the State. He said that one village Panchayat in each district of the State will be awarded for doing commendable work in the field of sanitation.

The CM also chaired a virtual meeting in which all the district magistrates of the State were connected in a virtual manner. Directing the DMs to undertake regular public awareness programmes on environmental conservation, the CM said that everyone should work for protecting the environment.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has undertaken a major campaign to provide Health cards which has proved beneficial to the farmers. He said that emphasis should be laid on making the soil free from chemicals, protecting the micro organisms in soil, conserving the soil moisture and preventing degradation of the water table.

He said that all the major development projects launched under the Leadership of PM Modi in the last nine years also focus on environmental conservation in one way or another. The CM said that a campaign of Amrit Sarovars was started by the government for conservation of water. He said that the State was given a target to construct 975 Amrit Sarovars and so far 1,092 Amrit Sarovars have been constructed in the State.

Indias 1st International Cruise Vessel MV Empress Flagged Off

Union Minister of , Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal has flagged off the maiden International Cruise Vessel MV Empress, Indias first international cruise vessel from Chennai to Sri Lanka in Chennai. This marks the beginning of the international cruise tourism terminal at Chennai, built at a cost of Rs 17.21 crores, heralding a new age of cruise tourism and maritime trade in the country.

The launch of the MV Empress is a major boost for cruise tourism in India. The country has a long coastline and a rich HISTORY and culture, which make it an attractive destination for cruise passengers. The MV Empress is expected to attract tourists from India and abroad, and to help boost the local economy
