· IMA to submit draft on Clinical Establishment Act
ð The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Uttarakhand Chapter would soon submit its report to the secretary, medical health Nitesh Jha regarding suggestions for changes in the Clinical Establishment Act in the State.
ð The CM understood the position of the association that to give quality health services at reasonable prices, some changes in the act need to be incorporated.
ð The Uttarakhand High Court (HC) in a recent landmark judgment had directed the State Government to seal all such hospitals and clinics that are not registered under Clinical Establishment Act.
ð In all probability, the IMA would ask the Government that the Haryana model of the act where all clinical establishments having less than 50 beds are exempted from the stringent provisions of the act should be followed in Uttarakhand also.
ð The Uttarakhand Government had brought in the Clinical Establish Act in the year 2016 but due to strong resentment of the private doctors and lack of will on part of the authorities, the Act is yet to be enforced in the State.
ð Under the provisions of the act, it is compulsory for all the clinical establishments to get them registered with the State council.
