Micro-hydel projects spell doom for fishing, agriculture in Uttarakhand: Study
The findings were part of a five-year field study conducted by the researchers of Kumaun University with the support of Colombo-based International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and co-ordinated by Arizona University. They explored the impact of six micro-power projects, ranging from 0.2MW to 12.6MW, on 11 villages in the region. While three of the plants were built on the Saryu river, the others are on its tributaries.
According to the researchers, blasting and tunnelling for such projects have ravaged natural water sources that have fed the villages in the region for centuries. They said that this also contributed to loss of agriculture and employment, forcing many to migrate from the area.
Cosmic Rose Image by NASA
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) shared an image of “Cosmic Rose”. Cosmic Rose is an image captured via the Hubble Space Telescope of NASA. The photo featured interacting galaxies Arp 273.
The Galaxy harassment is an interaction between a low-luminosity galaxy and a brighter one. It is commonly frequent in prosperous galaxy clusters such as Coma and Virgo.
Galactic Cannibalism: It is a process the place a giant galaxy interacts with a partner through tidal gravitational interactions. The galactic tide is defined as pressure skilled by objects subjected to the gravitational area of a galaxy.
Galaxy Collision: These are frequent at some point of galaxy evolution. In these interactions, two galaxies will collide and will no longer have ample momentum to proceed travelling after the collision.
Galaxy Mergers: A galaxy merger occurs when two or greater galaxies collide with every other. They are the most violent kind of galaxy interactions. Galaxy mergers are enormously essential as they are the necessary measure of Galaxy evolution.

After DRDO announced the move, Python 5 air-to-air missiles have been successfully added to the light fighter Tejas.
Python 5 is the fifth-generation Python missile. It is an air-to-air missile manufactured by the Israeli weapons manufacturer Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.
The Israeli government began to manufacture missiles under the name “Shafir”. Later, when it started exporting missiles, it chose the Western name “Python” or “Derby”.
Python-5 is the most capable air-to-air missile in Israel’s inventory. It is beyond the line-of-sight missile. Beyond line-of-sight missiles are missiles that can operate within a range of more than 37 kilometers. It has advanced star finder, including photoelectric and image infrared homing.
The Python 5 is capable to scan for the goal place for the opposed aircraft and then locks on for terminal chase. It was first used in the 2006 Lebanon war. It destroyed two Iran made UAVs. Speed of the missile is Mach 4. It weighs eleven kilograms.
